The Best Buy Notebook or Laptop for Your Kids

Your kids will love it…

School is about to start and you need to find the best buy notebook or laptop for kids.

Yikes! That’s a pretty tall order to buy a laptop for your school aged kids.

There are so many things to consider when looking for the best notebook or laptop for students. One of the first item to consider is whether they actually need a laptop.

This is quite an important question before you look for a best buy notebook or laptop. Do you really want your kid to be able to use the computer anywhere? Is it ok for him or her to be surfing the web behind closed doors or at a friend’s house? With the issues of pornography and sexual predators that lurk on the Internet, you need to consider this first before you go out and buy a laptop for your children.dell-e1705-best-laptop

The other item to consider before delving into laptop buying is whether a laptop is really needed. Laptops are the cool to have. How impressive to show friends that you have a laptop. However, is it really needed? Do classes really require the use of a laptop or can work be done at home on a desktop?

Even though prices for laptops have dropped significantly, prices for desktops are still cheaper AND you get more for the money. If you compare a laptop and a desktop for the same price, you will find that you always get more stuff with a desktop.

OK, let’s say you have settled on buying the best laptop you can for your son or daughter. What should you be looking for?

Unless he or she is going to be doing very intense graphics works (I DO NOT mean playing games), then most budget laptops are going to be fine. If the student is going to be doing a lot of video editing, for instance, then you would need to pay more attention to RAM, CPU speed, hard drive size, and speed of the display adapter. For instance, the Dell E1705 is built for this need. Of course, you could buy three budget computers for the same price!

Take the Dell Inspiron B130. I would consider this a best buy notebook or laptop in the budget arena. It will do everything a studedell-inspiron-b130-laptop-bestnt will need and probably more at just under $500.

It has a 1.6Ghz processor, 512MB RAM, 40GB hard drive, CD Burner with DVD ROM, Wireless card, 14.1 inch display, and Windows XP Home. This will be great for a student as a best buy notebook or laptop.

Of course, you will also need the word processor, email, spreadsheet software. If you don’t want to pay for Microsoft Office, OpenOffice is free and works great! It can do almost everything MS Office can and more. For email, use Mozilla’s Thunderbird.

I am a kid who is looking for a laptop. This was not the best help. You can get a laptop for 300$. Why pay 500? But thanks for the somewhat useful advice

Is there a laptop/notebook just for the internet, games and watching movies (no need for other programs – he’s just a kid so email and word and etc is for sure not needed at all)?

Also I’m just a worker not an executive so something that the average person can afford.
