April 27, 2009 by TechMan

GE Global Research announced the ability to store 500 gigabytes of data on a single standard dvd disc. The technology uses micro-holographic technology.

According to GE the discs will be able to read and write on systems that are similar to a standard DVD or Blu-ray player. It has taken GE six years to develop this technology that uses holographic imaging to write and read the data. Imagine being able to have your entire high definition collection on a single disc.
